The attention of the Social Democratic Party, SDP has been drawn to a statement issued by a small group of renegade members of the Party signed by the presidential running mate to Mr Donald Duke, Alh Shehu Gabam purporting to have suspended his principal and subsisting presidential candidate, Donald Duke and Prof Jerry Gana his mentor who is in the Supreme Court challenging the judgment of the Court of Appeal which recently pronounced DUKE as the SDP presidential candidate.

It is noteworthy that these disloyal members, are only desperate to impress their co-conspirators and sponsors so as to get some larges for their failed hatchet jobs against their rejection by INEC yesterday when they sought to present Prof Adeniran as the new National chairman of SDP.

This conduct has once more exposed the treachery and devious personality of Shehu Gabam against his benefactors in the party, namely Chief Olu Falae, Prof Jerry Gana and Mr Donal Duke. These three gentlemen had at one time or the other reposed great confedence in Gabam but ended up being betrayed.

It is important to note that Prof Jerry Gana gave the National Secretary slot granted him to Shehu Gabam during the negotiation which led to the fusion of Prof Jerry Gana’s Movement for New Political Order and the SDP last year. In the case Mr Duke, his trust in the Gabam led to his appointing him as his presidential running mate after being initially declared the party’s flag bearer. Another victim of Gabam thirst for betrayal is the immediate past National chairman, Chief Olu Falae who had entrusted the management of the party affairs at the National Secretariat to him but received the greatest shock of his life when floods of calls bombarded his phone asking whether he was part of the dishonourable group of Gabam that gathered at Abuja to adopt the APC presidential candidate, Mohammad Buhari. The embarrassment led to the resignation of Chief Falae as National Chairman and his denouncement of the group.

Meanwhile, for avoidance of doubt. We wish to state that both Prof Jerry Gana , Supo Shonibare and Mr Donald Duke, remain credible leaders and stakeholders of the SDP. The Party shall continue to hold them in very high esteem.

The suspension of Shehu Gabam and Prof Adeniran remains as pronounced at the well attended NEC meeting held yesterday.
