A tanker driver and his motor boy were burnt to death and seven houses were also burnt to ashes when the tanker fell down on Thursday at about 10.30am at Shika, near Zaria in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Speaking to journalists one of the victims Bala Tanimu Shika said when the tanker fell down, he was in the bathroom but it was people who rescued him because by then his house was on fire.
He said that from all the affected houses, nothing was saved, everything was completely burnt but was comforted that no life was lost in the affected houses.
Bala Tanimu Shika appealed to government and relevant authorities to come to their aid in order to bring succour to them.
Confirming the death of the two people, one of the officers of the Kaduna State Fire Service in Zaria, Mohammed Aliyu Lawal said when they received calls that an accident has occurred they rushed to the scene even before their arrival the two persons in the tanker were already burnt to death.
He added that the team of fire fighters from various units have helped the matter in controlling the fire from escalating more.
While appealing to Kaduna State government to assist the fire service in the state with modern fire fighting facilities in case of eventualities.
Also commenting, a fire fighter with Institute of Administration, ABU Kongo, Isa Mohammed lamented that on their arrival some group of people started shouting they don’t want they don’t want but with the help of security personnel they were able to bring the fire down.
The remains of the two persons were deposited at ABUTH Shika, Zaria
