KADUNA NUJ Condemns The Killings Of Three Policemen

By Lola Seriki- Idahosa, Kaduna, North-West,Nigeria …The Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Kaduna State Council has  condemned in its totality the brazen killings of three Policemen and other injured by some unknown bandits in Kaduna on Wednesday and call for the quick arrest of those involved.

In a communique issue after its Congress on Thursday 18th October, 2018 at NUJ Press Centre, Kaduna and signed by communique drafting  committee, Tajudeen Ajibade, Benedict Sunday and Lola Seriki-Idahosa, also commended the state government for its efforts in tackling the issue of insecurity within the state.

The congress was chaired by the Chairman of the Council; Comr. Adamu Yusuf also in attendance was the Vice President North West Zone Comr. Yusuf Idris. and deliberated on many salient issues as they affect the council, Kaduna state, among many others.

According to the communique,” congress commended the Kaduna State Government for its efforts in tackling the issue of insecurity within the state and urged the government not to relent in its efforts and always be pro-active.

“Congress noted that the law passed by Kaduna State House of Assembly in respect of insecurity within the state which has led to reduction in the rate of crime especially among the youths is a welcome development.

“Congress condemned in its totality the brazen killings of three Policemen and other injured by some unknown bandits in Kaduna on Wednesday and call for the quick arrest of those involved.

“The congress noted with dismay the current political development and called on media practitioners to put the nation first in their duty and not take sides with any political party.

“Congress advised that media practitioners and government should work together in unity and not see themselves as enemies but partners in progress. It enjoined that the relationship between media/government remained sacrosanct for progress and development.

“Congress advised its entire members to be law abiding in the pursuance of their duty and also cooperate with all other arms of Government without compromising their ethnic, obligations and responsibilities.

“Congress approved the setting up of a 5 man member electoral committee to be headed by the past secretary of the union, Comrade Dominic Uzu, to prepare to conduct elections into the council leadership whose current holders terminate on Dec. 15th 2018 and new executives sworn in.

“Congress observed a minute silence over the demise of the President of Black Gold Organization and owner of the famous ‘Ship House’ in Kaduna, Chief Sunny Danladi Okogwu, the Ojise of Asaba who died recently and commiserated with the entire people of Delta and Kaduna States and the nation at large over the loss of this illustrious son of Nigeria, and prayed to Almighty God to grant him eternal rest.

“Congress noted with dismay the situation in many media Houses especially the New Nigerian Newspapers Ltd whose pensioners and staff alike are put in difficult situation due to the non-challant attitude of the owners with a plead that something urgently should be done to save the collapse of the once vibrant newspaper in Africa which is also one of the legacies of the late Sardauna of Sokoto, Sir Ahmadu Bello, Gamji Dan Kwarai.

“The Congress congratulated the new Vice President of the North West Zone, Comrade Yusuf Idris and others from the Zone over their victories at the just concluded Delegates Conference held in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria.
