A coalition of Association’s of Osun State Indigenes in 19 northern states of Nigeria have adopted Senator Iyiola Omisore as governorship candidate for Saturday’s governorship election in the state, contesting under the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
The leader of the association, Chief Abdulrasheed Olaide, who led a delegate of over 50 members of the association to the National Secretariat of the Social Democratic Party(SDP) on Wednesday in Abuja, was received by the Deputy National Chairman of the SDP, Dr. Abdul Isiaq, the National Secretary of the party, Alhaji Shehu Gabam, National Organising Secretary, Rt. Hon Emeka Atuma and the National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Alfa Mohammed.
He said the coalition of indigenes came to the conclusion that Senator Omisore was theost credible and experience d candidate after assessing all the governorship aspirants in the state and their political parties.
Olaide said the association unanimously endorsed the candidate after a committee it set up to assess the aspirants and their political parties submitted its reports which favoured Senator Omisore as the most credible and experienced candidate.
According to the group, “ Senator Omisore is the only candidate who has the capacity to revive the shattered economy of the state within a short time, having being a deputy governor, a Senator in the National Assembly and also a successful business which further suggests he is better placed with experience and capacity to revive the already battered economy of Osun state.”
The group said it also observed that Omisore is the only candidate that is self-sponsored and without a God father, who may interfer with and tele-guiding the function of the governor after victory.
“The APC candidate was observed to be the brain behind the current economic policies of the state which has rendered civil servants and other citizens of the state impoverished.
“The rejection of the APC candidate follows his rejection by the APC national leader, Ahmed Asiwaju Tinubu who revealed that Oyetola is the main brain behind the present economic policies of the current administration in the state, which if he assume power, will continue with the policies that will continue to subject the people to sufferings,” he said.
“Similarly, the PDP candidate after the report done by the committee was observed to be an unserious personality whose over- indulgency in night life, drinking and dancing will subject his government to serious economic disaster. He is inexperienced and seen as an unserious personality that is devoid of any capacity to move the state forward,” added the leader of the group.
