As the 2019 general elections draw nearer, not fewer than 8 aspirants have indicated interest to contest for the Governorship seat of Kaduna State under the PDP, even as the party has advised the aspirants to explore the possibility of producing a consensus candidate among themselves as a first option for the emergence of a standard bearer of the party’s ticket.
The kaduna State PDP Secretary, Hon. Ibrahim Aliyu Wusono listed the eight aspirants to include: the immediate past governor, Mukhtar Ramalan Yero, Isa Mohammed Ashiru, Dr. Sani Mohammed Bello and Shuaibu Idris Mikati. The rest are Sani Sidi, Bello Mohammed Kagarko, Jaafaru Sa’ad and Barr. Kish Adamu.
He said the party also advised all aspirants to caution their loyalists and supporters to conduct themselves with decorum devoid of mudslinging in the cause of mobilizing support for their individual aspirants, as politics without bitterness was PDP philosophy.
Speaking further, Aliyu Wusono, stated categorically that
neither the party leadership at the state nor at the national levels was in tacit support of a particular aspirant, as the party leadership was committed towards providing a level playing ground for the best material with the requisite capacity to emerge and replace the failed APC at the general elections.
