Contractors Of N6.8bn Projects Awarded By el-Rufai In Zaria Assure Of Quality, Timely Completion

Kaduna, North West  …..The contractors handling major infrastructural projects in cosmopolitan local government areas of Zaria have assured of timely completion of quality construction.

They gave the assurance when the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Kaduna State Council embarked on a tour of projects being executed by the Malam Nasir el-Rufai-led Kaduna State Government in the Northern Senatorial Zone of the state on Tuesday.

Mother Cat, which is handling 50kilometres of roads with 20km in Sabon Gari LGA and 30km in Zaria LGA told newsmen that already, some have been completed, while others are at various stages.

The spokesman of Mother Cat, said that they are right on track in the handling of the projects.

“We are handling two major projects in Zaria 30km and 20km Sabon Gari LGA,” he said.

He explained that they are handling the orohects based on a retainership agreement with the state government, where they are paid monthly.

Mother Cat said that most roads they are constructing are already designed by the consultant, while they execute.

“We are in first phase of the project. We have completed only 5km. In some roads we have finished drainages, in some we have finished other aspects, because of major problems of compensation.

“In Zaria City, 12 out of the roads require compensation. Already the state government is working on it, putting values on property affected,” he said.

Another construction firm, COEC Construction, handling the N1.5bn Koran Kigbo-Manchester Road, inherited project from the previous administration, said that they have done 65 per cent of the job.

A management staff, who identified himself as Mr. Chike who was spotted on site told journalists that the job includes a 75metres bridge and road of 6.8km.

“We started this project in 2014. If we get more cash backing, we would waste no time in completing the project,” he added.

Meanwhile, according to the tour guide, Engineer Zubairu Abubakar, the work on the Old Jos Road Zaria, from FCE Zaria to Dakaci, about 3.5km, which is costing the state government N47m is still in progress.
