Formers footballers and experience Football intermediary have insist advised that every professional football need an intermediary and a pension scheme to make life easier after active Football.

David Jacobs Bamidele and Bar. Ogbemudia Endurance highlight the importance. They said the benefits of engaging players intermediary in negotiating players employment contract cannot be over emphasize especially in Nigeria where most of the club administrators tend to treat player like slave with their “Take it or Leave it attitude”.

Bar. Ogbemudia said a greater percentage of Nigeria League professional footballers don’t know their right. ” I have dealt with numbers of cases with players I represent against the Nigeria Football Federation on players contract right. So many players suffer in the hands of the club administrators just because they don’t know their right just like the case of late Izu Joseph”.
” A club is not suppose to owe a players salary beyond 10th of every month and the players contact should be known by the player not a case if slavery”.

Bamidele and Aminu Yusuf who are very experienced intermediary emphasize that an intermediary or player agent helps to speak on behalf of the player and the employee (Club) to avoid slave contract or error while signing a contract for the benefit for the player.
” A player can terminate his or her contract and has the right to take the club to court if the contract is not adhere to”. Yusuf noted.

A representative of the seminar sponsor, Chukwuma Anaonwu of Sigma Pension Scheme said studies have shown that the life of active professional football is very short and most of the players are carried away when they are on top of their game as he mentioned the state of notable footballers like late Rashidi Yekini, Wilson Oruma and other ex players who are seen around the stadium begging for money. He advised that they should set aside part of their earnings ahead of retirement

While Dr. Brown Ogbiefu and Formers defunct sharks FC skippo now Chairman of Warri wolves and Austin Popoh said many of them regret it today because they don’t see the need of taking life insurance in their playing days.
