The ex-governor of Ekiti State, Segun Oni-led committee inaugurated by the All Progressives Congress to look into the crisis rocking the Kaduna State chapter of the party, began its assignment on Sunday.

However, the committee’s inaugural interface with the leadership of the Senator Hunkuyi-led faction could not hold at the demolished factional secretariat of the party at 11B Sambo Road, Kaduna.

This was due to the late arrival of members of the committee.

The national headquarters of the APC had inaugurated the committee following the demolition of the Kaduna APC factional office.

The chairman of the fact-finding  committee told Senator Hunkuyi led faction that they are here to find out that facts and appealed to both side to shield their sword and also give them the time to work out the report.

According to him, “We will reconcile everyone, we will try to restore peace and whatever the problem is, it will be resolved, we will continue to function as one family”.

Members of the committee are the Deputy National Chairman (Southwest), Segun Oni; National Auditor, George Moghalu; and National Woman Leader, Rahmatu Alliyu.

It was learnt that the committee member had earlier met Governor Nasir el-Rufai and the northwest national vice chairman of the party, Inuwa Abdulkadir, whose house was also demolished by the governor.

Though the committee members were expected at the factional secretariat by 11:00am, they arrived by 3:41pm.

By then, stalwart of the aggrieved party members had dispersed, but not without addressing newsmen.

However, not long after they had left, the Oni-led committee arrived the secretariat where they met Senator Hunkuyi and the factional chairman, Danladi Wada.

Addressing newsmen, Oni apologised to the senator Hunkuyi led group for their late arrival.

It will be recalled that the National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress had earlier directed the former Governor of Ekiti State, OLusegun Oni, to proceed to Kaduna on a fact-finding mission over last Tuesday’s demolition of a property belonging to one of the factional leaders of the APC in the state, Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi.

The demolition was said to have been carried out on the orders of Kaduna Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai who was suspended for six months by one of the factions in the state.
