Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai has commiserated with traders at the old Panteka Market in Kaduna South Local Government area of the state.
The old Panteka market was gutted by fire in the early hours of Friday. Several shops were burnt to ashes and properties worth millions of naira lost to the inferno.
In a press statement signed by the governor’s spokesman Mr. Samuel Aruwan said the Governor, who visited the market around 10am in the company of top government functionaries, assured the victims that the government will investigate the cause of the fire incident and seek ways to avoid recurrence of fire outbreaks in the market.
“We came here to commiserate with you over this unfortunate fire outbreak. I am here on behalf of the people and government of Kaduna State to empathize with you.
“As a government, we will get to the root of the matter and also ensure thorough investigation to ascertain the root cause and seek ways to avoid such incidents in the future.
“May Almighty God restore all that you lost in this unfortunate situation.”
