The heavily armed men who arrived the house around 8 pm however neatly cut the barb wire on top of his fence to enable them have easy access into his house. But Festus Alenkhe was not home when the hoodlums stormed his house.
They were however chased away by his wild security dogs who attempted to attack them. The dog,s persistent barking then attracted neighbours who then put a call to other neighbours and the vigilante.
A situation which forced the hoodlums to escape from the scene. The matter has been reported at the police station for further investigation as the whereabouts of Festus Alenkhe is unknown as at press time.
It would be recalled that Festus Alenkhe , a senior crime reporter with Edo state owned television ,( Edo Broadcasting service)has been in the forefront of reporting high profile crime stories in Edo state and the country.
He has won so many awards in crime reports including an award of excellence from Edo state police command in February, 2016 under the then commissioner of police Cp Chris Ezike and presented by Mr.parry Osayande former chairman police service commission. other awards were from police community Relations committee, Benin Area command and a meritorious service award from the Military Catholic chaplaincy, St Patrick’s military Catholic church of 4 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Benin city., Edo state.
